Welcome to Second/Third Grade- Overview

• Second and third grade still need foundation work. A lot of that growth happens by reading every day.

• If a phonics skill never got solid in first grade, come back to it now. Review is not going backward.

• Spend a few minutes on the harder phonics charts. Many of those were made with second graders in mind.

• The skill is listed on the front of each packet, so you can pick the one your child still needs.

• The same charts help reading and writing.
